Casting Shadows EverywhereBy L.T Vargas
I revived this book for free after seeing a post on Twitter and to get the book all it required was to sign up for the mailing list so I thought what the hell and signed up. So as the post promised I received Casting Shadows Everywhere by L.T Vargas. 15 year old Jake is wimp by his own admission he’s also too timid to make a move on Beth, the buxom girl of his dreams but soon realised that He needs help from the craziest person he knows, his cousin Nick. Nick is bad apple in fact even Jakes mum has warned him to stay away from the convicted burglar and makes but Jake doesn't listen and is soon persuaded to become his apprentice as he craves to be as confident as Nick. They prowl the town night after night, ransacking houses for jewellery and other items that they can sell. Nick teaches Jake the skills he needs to become a master of breaking and entering. Nick believes in the motion that there is no right or wrong in the world. At first, adopting Nick's callous worldview helps Jake get over his fears and confront the bullies that have made his life a misery in school but this soon leads to Jake unleashing an aggression in himself he never thought possible Jake soon discovers that his cousin isn't the best person he should be looking up to as he realises that Nick's crimes go way beyond just burglary as Jake learns his cousin has a darker side way beyond anything the Jake could of imagined. Overall this is a decent read that never really blows you away? casting shadows everywhere certainly has a Fight Club feel to it at times but never really leaves a lasting impression on you, but that's not to say that is a poor story as it probably appeals to loads of people it just not the type of book I normally go for. |
