THE HOUSEMATES By Iain Rob Wright
|
The Housemates by Iain Rob Wright is a fantastically scary take on the whole reality T.V show genre.
Damian is a contestant in a new reality T.V show where 12 strangers 6 men & 6 women enter a mysterious house which strike an uncanny resemblance to an actual reality T.V show in order to become the winner of a huge cash some £2million which can be split evenly by the two finalists or they can go head to head in order to win the whole lot themselves.
Damian is not a people’s person in fact he doesn’t really mix well at all with new people but has signed up to the show in order to help out his business partner out but as soon as he arrives at the secret setting he begins to wonder if he’s done the right thing especially as when he enters the house the housemates are instructed to put electronic collars and bracelets by the shows host named simply as THE LANDLORD.
Damian soon begins to become an out cast within the group even more so when the new house mates discover an abundance of alcohol in the house which the housemates soon set about drinking, Damien is remaining teetotal as he intends to keep his wits about him as he scopes out his new rival housemates in order to try and win the jackpot, Damian isn’t a total outcast as he attracts the attention of a female housemate named Danni who see’s that an alliance with Damian could prove to be a safe proposition in order to realize her dream and win the jackpot. The new house mates begin settling into the new surrounding but are soon commanded into the garden for the first task as the house mate are divided into two team they play a game where they have to fill a large container full of liquid that ironically contains luggage the winning team then wins the luggage but it soon becomes apparent that The Landlord is playing evil games. After the task voting takes place to decide the two housemates who have to go up against each other in order to survive eviction, Damian is one contestant other is Chris, both men are led into a room and in the center is to pistols that contain BB bullets instead of live ammo but the game has chilling consequences.
Each new day brings a nomination and the two housemate with the most votes are forced to go head to head in an elimination trial all though the loser isn't eliminated they are executed! Over the next few days It becomes clear that each housemate is here because they have been chosen due to a past offenses they have committed and with each elimination there crime is exposed.
Iain Rob Wright is a fantastically gifted but deeply twisted horror author who's books just keep your gripped in a tight vice like hold until the end, he's is fast becoming my favorite indie horror author.
