One to Watch (Cole Stockton)
Remember the name folks COLE STOCKTON, he is the next player off the very successful Tranmere Rovers academy system and the same system that has produced current premiership players Clint Hill (QPR), Arron Cresswell (West Ham) & Ryan Taylor (Newcastle).
6 foot 1" Stockton is a 20 year old Huyton born striker who came through Tranmere's Youth system but came to prominence really in 2011 when he was top scorer for both the Tranmere youth & reserve side to further his progression cole went out on loan to local Non league team Vauxhall Motors on two separate occasions scoring 2 goals in 9 starts plus games a substitute, he made his football league debut for Tranmere under Les Parry coming on as a substitute on 17th January 2012 in a goalless draw against Rochdale, after his Tranmere debut cole was as four on the second if the two Vauxhall loan spells.
2012/13 season saw Cole start toast lush himself as a first team player, in fact he managed to appear 36 times although (27) as a substitute scoring 6 goals in the process, 2013/14 should really of seen Stockton push on but he only managed 26 games (21) as a sub and scoring 3 goals, this season manager Ronnie Moore appeared to be reluctant to let Stockton play though it was clear to most fans that he has bags of ability he just needs a run of games to establish and confirm the fans views of his ability.
In fact the 2014/15 season has seen 2 new mangers arrive in the shape of Rob Edwards (1st) & Micky Adams and Cole seemed to have impressed Edwards and he has managed to start as the managers main forward holding off competition from the experienced Kayode Odejeyi until a pelvic injury halted his progress, Cole Is joint leader in the Tranmere goal scoring charts for the season with 3 already, so after the disappointment if loosing last seasons top scorer Ryan Lowe to L2 rivals Bury but it appears Rovers have a ready made goal scoring replacement in young Cole Stockton incidentally who they have just signed on a 3 year deal to ensuring he is not poached anytime soon
