One to watch pt 3 (Jake Cassidy)
In next up in the series is a welsh youngster that is ripping up the league one goal scoring charts with high flying Tranmere Rovers the one & only Jake Cassidy.
Cassidy was born in Glan Conway in February 1993, he started his youth career at home town club Conway Rovers and also went on to play for Llandudno Junction in the Welsh Alliance league 1 up until 2010 where the 16 year old netted a very impressive 28 goals in 32 game and earned the Welsh teenager a move to Welsh premier league side Airbus UK Broughton. Cassidy didn’t get long playing for Airbus when after some really impressive pre season games for his new employers apparently according to rumours one in particular against an Everton select 11 side Jake was snapped up by English Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.
Cassidy’s potential was spotted by the Tranmere Rovers’s manager Ronnie Moore in 2012 when Moore swooped initially on a month’s loan for Cassidy which was extended until the end of the season.
Cassidy is currently in his second spell at League one side Tranmere Rovers and is joint top league goal scorer after last season being brought in by Ronnie Moore to help fire Tranmere out of the relegation places in the 2011/12 season initially on a short term loan which was extended till the end of the season in which Cassidy repaid Moore by netting 5 goals in 10 games which made him rovers top goalscorer that season but more importantly help Tranmere finish the season in a respectable 12th place after the seeing them holding a relegation place for most of the season.
Ronnie Moore convinced his employers Wolverhampton Wanderers to let Jake come back to Tranmere for 6 months in the 2012/13 season and what a
decision that has proved to be for all 3 parties as Cassidy has been instrumental in Tranmere’s sensational start to the season. Cassidy took a few games to get off the mark in his second loan spell but the ended in Tranmere’s home game against Colchester when Cassidy walked away with the match ball in the 4-0 victory, Cassidy has followed up that by netting 3 more times in September to help Tranmere to the top of the league and also
secure Cassidy as League one player of the month for September & league one manager of the month for Ronnie Moore.
Cassidy’s talent has also been spotted by the Wales U21 manager Geraint Williams who has capped the youngster 2 times to
date.
If Cassidy’s fine form continues then it’s safe to say this youngster has a huge future ahead of himself for both his club and country, so remember the name Jake Cassidy because this boy special.
