The Black Echo
By Michael Connelly
The Black Echo by Michael Connelly author of the Lincoln Lawyer is the first book in the Harry Bosch books which is now a TV series being shown exclusively on Amazon Prime and stars Titus Welliver as Harry Bosc
Harry Bosch Is Hollywood Homicide officer who is called to the scene of a dead body in a reservoir pipe but as everyone one else believes the body is just another junkie who's OD'd but Harry is not convinced as the crime scene is displaying signs to the contrary. Bosch soon discovers that the victim is known to the FBI after he was linked to a bank job a few moths earlier but was never charged as he could never by linked to the job but there is a twist Bosch knows the victim in fact he was a fellow "tunnel rat" in Vietnam. This link proves too big for Bosch to ignore and treat as just another dead body so he starts digging into the bank caper to try and tie this murder to the that job but he soon starts ruffling a few FBI feathers in the process. Harry then gets a break as he's given a temporary assignment to the FBI case hoping that if they solve one crime it will lead to solving the other so Bosch and a female agent by the name of Wish set out to close both cases.
This book proves that it's no surprise that Connelly is a leading writer in this genre, his ability to pull the reader into that world is one of the reasons I struggled to put the book down at times, although it's worth mentioning that this is a longer book than I would normally read to be honest at nearly 500 pages "The Black Echo" did take me a lot longer than I would of liked to complete but in the end I am very glad I stuck too it. Will I read more books in the future? Probably although no this is a T.V. series I might just find my self watching this instead.
