The Nowhere men by Michael Calvin is one of the best football book I have read this year, it reveals a great insight to footballs unknown talent spotters who trudge up and down the country, Europe and the world in search of football next golden boy. These men are footballs unsung hero's the scouts who put the beautiful game before family and in some cases are are only paid 40p mile with no expenses to find a needle in hay stack. These men are fiercely loyal to people who have not turned there backs on scouts in favour of the new breed of player analyst that has flooded the game in recent years, although in my opinion there is place on the game for stats you can't abandon the old ways of a scout watching a player and how he interacts with others around him which in most cases gives a better insight into the player rather than if he score etc.
This a truly Brilliant in sight into in pursuit of footballs next golden boy. Nowhere men is a well written account of the trials and tribulations these man go through and in my opinion one of the better football books out at the moment.
