J Jackson Bentley returns is his series of City of London thrillers, this time I his second book in the series Chameleon, London security company Vastrick are hired to protect an African woman Victoria Hokobu alive for the next 72 hours while she delivers a speech on poverty in Marat an African nation that has an a abundance of riches from tanzanite but it's only the rich that are getting rich while the rest of the nation rely on UN aid. There is one big problem for Vastrick though some of the world’s deadliest assassins and security forces have been employed to kill her before she delivers her key speech. In an unfortunate turn of events Vastrick are unable to keep Victoria Hokobu alive long enough to deliver her key speech as the security company are tricked by a ruthless assassin named the Chameleon, Vastrick come up with a way of honouring the African stateswoman wish and they use a friend to deliver her key speech to the world highlighting Marat's plight to the watching world. Vastrick also set out to bring the Chameleon to justice for Mrs Hokobu's murder. Is the chameleon really a ruthless killer or just someone who has become a victim?
The book also sees the author as a supporting character in his own novel which is actually quite a bizarre twist, Bentley has written a thriller that is as equally brilliant as the first book
