Last night my team Tranmere Rovers put on a Live @ Prenton Park comedy night for the tidy sum of £12.50 there was a comedian, raffle and in fine football tradition a pie at half time sadly there was no Bovril although that’s probably not a bad thing! The first of these nights was Tony Jameson a comic who like me we share 2 major things in common Football and the game Football Manager! The title of the show had me convinced I had to go anyway plus as a fan of the game series I have seen the documentary and read the book about the game so I pretty much could relate anyway, the show is called FOOTBALL MANAGER RUINED MY LIFE, right that's caught your attention in fact I bet that if you've played the game at some point you too could say it's probably ruined your life too, I have my own story about how the game actually left it's mark on my life ultimately I ain't proud about that but hey that’s the pull of the game. if you are in your early twenties like me, ok so maybe that's a little lie and a fan of the beautiful game and a bit of a geek (it's fair to say I am both, and am not ashamed of the fact) and always had dreams of managing a football club one day then the chances are you have probably played Football Manager.

Jameson focuses on his own experiences around the game but to be honest most of us who have played the games will relate to them. Tony starts by telling the audience what the game is for those people who don’t actually know, no one in our crowd which included the current manager, backroom staff, latest marquee signing, chairman and his wife didn’t know about the game so that made the audience and Jameson instantly connect, for those who don’t know FM is basically a SPREADSHEET, so why the fuss well it’s simple its one of the most advanced and used spreadsheets created, it is so advanced that football teams use its database for scouting actual real players, the creators of the game have signed a deal with real life football scouting program Prozone so both parties will use each others data, wow the future of the game is truly bright, anyway I digress Tony Jameson's show is hilarious from start to finish, he's absolutely created a unique comedy experience that even if you’re not a fan of the games or football his show is a brilliant in fact I recon if he was to film the show on DVD it would be a good seller, I would certainly watch it again and again. Overall Tony Jameson has a bright future both with this show and a comedian, if your club does similar nights I urge you to ask them to book him as it’s a thoroughly enjoyable evening. www.tonyjameson.co.uk Twitter -@tonyjameson |
