Hatchet Man - The Life Of An Irish Hitman
* First off let me just say I couldn't tell if this is fictional or real as weird as it sounds I hope it's real not some ploy by the author Charlie Harrison to fanaticise about being a killer and or how they would think or act in those situations. I have tried researching it to no avail I have also contacted the publishers to see if try can confirm or deny if its fact it fiction but for agreements sake let’s say it is so here goes.
Connor McCulloch lives in Dorchester a neighbourhood of Boston, he is not your typical hit man if there is such a thing and for that matter it's not like I know many or any hit man, he grow up as a product of a loving family both his parents worked honest respectable jobs, they were by no means a rich family but they certainly weren't poor they lived like most families at the time surviving from day to day week to week. Connor dropped out of school like so many other teenagers his age and after trying to gain a hockey scholarship without any success Connor got himself a job in another career most men his age and background turn to the US Army.
After a few years in the army Connor applied and joined the sniper division at fort Bragg but the untimely death of Connors father meant he never finished the course and subsequently was discharged from the Army on compassionate grounds.
Struggling to find employment in the area and with his mother and younger sisters moving away, Connor tried to re-enlist but was told he needed more time to grieve following his father’s death so he needed a plan and after a drunken bar brawl on night Connor stumbled into a job as a batman / bouncer with the bar owner as way of paying him back for the damage Connor caused in the fight and it’s in this job Connor forged himself a new
career as a hitman.
The book tells of each of the murders Connor has committed and are told from his perspective of each of the deeds some more grisly than others the book paints a picture of a modern day Robin Hood but let's not kid ourselves no matter how you dress it up not matter how evil or nasty the victims were Connor is still a cold calculated killer.
* Since writing the book the publishers have confirmed that the book is in fact a work of fiction as disappointing
as that its let’s not detract from the fact that the book is still a very good read.
