Please PJ can i have some (Ronnie) Moore?
Ronnie back in the Rovers Dug - Out
In March 2012 after a defeat away at Chesterfield Peter Johnston ended Les Parry's reign as manager of Tranmere Rovers, although Les done a fantastic job when he replaced John Barnes after 11 games of the previous campaign with rovers facing relegation by keeping them up it fair to say that after a decent start to the new season there were signs showing that maybe he wasn't the right man for the job and after a horrendous run Les was sacked- * iwannabeadored wishes him all the best for the future.
In a shrewd move he was immediately replaced with former manager Ronnie Moore who to be fair in his previous spell as manager had guided rovers to within minutes of the play offs only to be denied by a late Cliff Byrne goal away at Scunthorpe.
Well that's the end of Ronnie Moore's first month in charge as Interim manager of Tranmere Rovers and well let's put it this way he was unfairly denied League 1 manager of the month by Gary Megson of Sheffield Wednesday which in my albeit biased opinion which am not ashamed to say it is only because they are a bigger team and higher up the table but in many respects RM's achievement is far greater considering the run the team was on prior to him taking over and lack of confidence in the team at the time.
In this month the team picked up a point at home to that horrible bunch of cheats Nott’s County who themselves where on a run under new manager Keith Curle with a late late bullet header from the skipper John Welsh, this was then followed by a superb 2 - 0 win again at home in a game that marked Tranmere's 100 years at Prenton Park with goals from the legend Andy Robinson & Enoch Showumni this was then followed by a potential tricky tie at home to PNE who had former Rovers hero Iain Hume returning to Prenton Park but even he could do nothing to stop Rovers after taking the lead PNE where brushed aside by strikes from Showumni & Robinson again!
Rovers then had a tough away game at Sheffield Utd where they managed to show fantastic Bounce back ability to equalise through Lucas Akins and cancel out Chad Evans early strike, A localish derby away at Rochdale proved no stumbling block for the Impressive SWA as they registered another 2 - 0 victory thanks to goals from on loan pair James Wallace & Jake Cassidy, It was then back to Prenton Park for a massive game with fellow strugglers Exeter City that again although the visitors played some neat football couldn't prevent rovers from winning 2 - 0 again this time the heroes being Joss Labadie and again young Jake
Cassidy.
The fantastic run was halted away at Bury where Rovers where outclassed and out played showing Ronnie's unbeatable where in fact very beatable but this result was immediately put to bed with a fantastic 3 - 0 home win against the playoff contenders Stevenage Borough thanks to 2 goals from
Jake Cassidy and Lucas Akins who has showed in recent weeks has part to play in the Rovers team.
So in Ronnie's first month he has drew 2, won 5 with the 1 loss propelling Rovers up to 11 at time of writing, Confidence is sky high with all the players wanting the ball even the players who under Les looked out of their depth are playing with confidence and well for the team.
I think it’s pretty conclusive that Rovers immediate future lies with Ronnie so I hope PJ does the decent thing and gives Ronnie a full time contract and a workable wage budget and hopefully this time round Rovers will get promoted out of league 1.
* Les has currently taken the job as Accrington Stanley's physio until the end of the season.
** since writing Les Parry has been appointed Physio for Manchester Utd's academy
*** Ronnie Moore was given a new contract at TRFC & in 2012/13 nearly took them into the championship after being top for most of the season an inevitable slump saw rovers dramatically fall down the table missing out on promotion but as that season proved TRFC are in a better position under the stewardship of Ronnie Moore
UPDATE
Ronnie was sacked by Tranmere for admitting to breaching the FA betting regulations, he was subsequently charged and found guilty by the FA for these offenses.
Ronnie Moore has since been appointed Hartlepool Manager
